Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution (EVO2) number 494 of 500, registered new in Italy on April 24, 1991 and remained in the same family until now. Initially registered in the name of the financial leasing Mercedes, with a Rome license plate, the car was then registered in the name of the real owner and received the current Florence license plate in 1993; since then the car has traveled approximately 97,000 km, alternating periods of more intense use with others of storage in the garage, always kept in excellent condition. Its “blue-black” paint is 90% original, as are the interior and mechanics.
110,000 Deutsch Marks, 235 hps, 1340 kgs, 0/100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and 250 km/h of top speed are some of the numbers of this hyper-sedan, entrusted by Mercedes to the care of the british company Cosworth. An expensive, showy, uncompromising car chosen by true enthusiasts of this model, eager to emulate the achievements of Klaus Ludwig in the DTM won by Mercedes in 1992: no more than twenty 190 EVO2s have been sold new in Italy. They did not have any special options because they already came out with everything you need, from leather seats, to the sunroof, to air conditioning, to central locking with electric windows and to the active suspension system.
If externally the EVO2 was distinguished by the giant front and rear wings and the widened wheel arches necessary to accommodate the 17-inch wheels, inside everything had remained almost unchanged compared to the normal 190E: some clues could be noticed in the more profiled seats, in the embedded chronometer between the ammeter and the oil pressure gauge but above all for the gear knob with the progressive numbering of the cars produced.
Over the years the car has been kept in order and serviced: recently the electronically controlled suspensions have been completely overhauled and the KE-Jetronic injection pump has been serviced and fine-tuned.
The car is delivered with all the original equipment, from the double keys, the jack, the tool bag, then all the booklets and brochures, as well as the service book with the 'Fahrzeugdaten', together with invoices and documentation of the interventions carried out in the past years.
