STM Phoenix, no Fisher Fury Sylva Caterham Westfield Super Seven
[engine not included in sale, you will need a Hayabusa 2nd gen (2008-2020) or B-King (2007-2012) engine to complete the car]
For sale is a 2008 STM Phoenix which is known for its great handling and its much more aerodynamic shape compared to a traditional Super Seven.
This is the extra light version without doors, without windshield and with a multilink rear axle.
The car came initially equipped with a 1.6l Toyota 4-AGE engine which was removed in favour of a Hayabusa 2nd gen engine.
The engine swap resulted in a weight drop to around ~500kg.
This is a very small car and is only 115cm tall, 153cm wide and 338cm long.
The car was imported to Germany long before Brexit and is located there (~2.5 hour drive from Metz).
But it has still the UK number plates on it and a UK V5 as it has never been reregistered outside UK.
However the import tax has already been paid if the potential new owner wants to register within the EU.
Registering it for the road outside of the UK is not a problem if a very good catalyst is used to comply with the emissions.
The engine is not included in the sale and will be removed once the potential new owner had a chance to verify that all work which was done to the chassis related to the engine swap was properly carried out.
The car can be delivered to France and anywhere else in Europe against surcharge.
All the challenging aspects of the conversion have been solved but there are still a couple of things to do to finish the car (check the bottom of the list).
Spec list:
- Custom made engine mounts with polyurethane bushings, made to fit Hayabusa Gen2 engine (fabricated by a skilled fabricator, brand new)
- Custom made 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, made according to SBD specifications to fit Hayabusa Gen2 engine (fabricated by a skilled fabricator, brand new)
- Custom made stainless steel muffler (maximum size possible), very huge to pass noise limits on tracks, filled with acousta-fil, refillable, exhaust tip can be angled 360°, preferably downwards to decrease noise even more
- Custom made aluminium airbox with a inlet made to fit Hayabusa Gen2 engine (fabricated by a skilled fabricator, brand new)
- Custom made resilient tube propshaft (Bailey Morris) with three laser cut propshaft catchers out of 5mm sheet metal (brand new)
- Sprocket to propshaft adapter (brand new)
- Chassis was modified to accept an BMW E30 differential (fabricated by a skilled fabricator)
- Custom made BMW E30 168 sized differential, with 2.79 final drive, geared to around 150mph with 13' tyres, clutch plate limited slip core rebuild with new clutch discs, converted from 2-way to 1-way, locks only during acceleration
(built by a reputable differential shop and has zero miles on it since then)
- Second, spare E30 differential with 3.13 final drive included (not a limited slip diff but can be used to install the core from the 2.79 differential to switch between final drives)
- Electric reverse gear with 230mm water jet cut sprocket mounted on differential output shaft and WOSP starter - (brand new)
- Custom made 25mm CroMo4 swaybars, front and rear, two sets available with two different wall thicknesses (so 4 swaybars in total), this will allow you to change the swaybar stiffness according to your needs. Be aware that the Phoenix
does not have swaybars from factory and it is a lot of work and costly to retrofit them. - (brand new)
- Protech 2-way dampers with springs, adjusted on shock dyno, from AB-Performance (same as on the Arion race cars) - (brand new, still in box)
- Main suspension pickup points strengthened on the front and in the rear
- M18 outlaw; 4-piston solid brake calipers front and Sierra floating calipers rear
- 13x7' rims with Toyo R888 tyres (tyres are old and need replacing)
- Large custom made aluminium radiator from AB-Peformance (brand new, still in box)
- Very well made rollcage (looks a bit clumsy/large on pictures but looks spot on in real life)
- Alcantara steering wheel
- Paddle shifter with push/pull bowden cable from AB Performance - (brand new)
- Clutch slave cylinder Wilwood - (brand new)
- Brake master cylinders Wilwood
- High quality LED lights for the rear with E-marks - brand new (still in box)
- Tillet carbon seats (with properly fabricated seat brackets for maximum strength), new attachment points for racing harness were fabricated to harmonise with the new seats
- Sabelt race harness
- New headlights for LHD traffic (brand new, still in box), Old RHD headlights still installed on the car
- fuel tank modified to accept stock Hayabusa fuel pump and aftermarket fuel level sender
- lightweight race battery (still in good shape)

- ETB DigiDash2 LITE display 420,00 EUR / GBP 360.00 (brand new, still in box)
- Flatshifter Expert 950,00 EUR / GBP 815.00 (brand new, still in box)
Things that have to be completed:
- Complete wiring harness
- hard brake lines and fuel line
- fabricating some aluminium sheet frame covers for the interior (old ones included as a template)
- fabricating a new aluminium sheet dashboard (old one included as template)
- installing the new radiator + coolant reservoir + oil cooler (oil cooler not included) + fabricating some ducting
- hood scoop to cover the airbox (not included)
- painting the frame with rust preventing paint on all the spots were it was welded, currently there is some light surface rust on these spots but nothing serious
- the input seal of the differential has to be changed as it currently leaks
- The glass fibre body has no noteworthy damage but it needs to be repainted or wrapped, especially the sidepods
