The story of one of the most iconic motorcycles in the Superbike Championship begins in the early 2000s, an atypical but extremely fascinating model: the Ducati 999, produced from 2002 to 2006 by Pierre Terblanche and Massimo Tamburini.
Unlike almost all of its competitors, the 999 was designed and built with the intention of winning the Superbike World Championship, the maximum expression of sports motorcycling for production bikes
The first appearance of the 999 in the Superbike World Championship dates back to the 2003 season.
Brought to the track by the official Ducati team, Fila with the English rider Neil Hodgson monopolizes the championship that year, winning no less than 13 races, 9 of which in a row, and winning the Riders' World title.
His teammate Rubén Xaus also had numerous placements, ending the season in second place.
On the road, the 999 has a comfortable riding position for a track sports car: the handlebars are at the right distance and not too closed. On the saddle there is room for all sizes, the seat is low and the distance from the tank can be adjusted. The footpegs are also adjustable to five positions, so you can 'tailor' the 999 to your liking.
The engine has prompt and vigorous delivery, but gradual and not too demanding if you have the right experience.
A motorcycle that is certainly still capable of arousing beautiful emotions in fans of the Borgo Panigale company.
