In 1970 Mario Perin had an accident with his Alfa Romeo Giulia Tubolare Zagato, the aluminum body was seriously damaged and the chassis also suffered damage.
Since the A.R. TZ1 was no longer competitive in its category, and it was not convenient to renovate it; he decided to transform it into a prototype by renovating and modifying the chassis and using the mechanics. Then bodybuilding the car in fiberglass, which was built by Rovigo Corse.
The new car was ready at the end of 1971, making its official debut at the Trento Bondone in 1972 with the driver Enrico Rocca.
Given the success of the car, Mario Perin decided to build a second prototype with a rear engine and Hewland gearbox; but then nothing more was done.
The car then ended up in Tuscany, where nothing more was heard of it.
In the 90s it was purchased, completely dismantled, by the current owner; who only in 2022 decided to begin its restoration, also thanks to contacts with Mario Perin.
The car was completely overhauled in 2024.
